pizza night with the kids turns into a terrifying experience. families wind up at gun . in the east bay. alan wang is live at the chuck-e-cheese in newark. and they released disturbing video of masked gunmen robbing and terrorizing these families. >> carolyn, they are trying to get people with information to come forward. tonight chuck-e-cheese's was back up on again after a crime that may be considered appalling by other criminals. it was just before 10:00 on saturday night when three gunmen took over the chuck-e-cheese's restaurant in

newark. in this surveillance video released today, one points a gun to the head of a young employee who stayed curled up on the floor. >> just let them run around at chuck-e-cheese and you let your kids play. wow, very shocked. >> they wounded up the rest of the employees and several families with chirp,-- children, about 40 people in all. then they put them in a store room as they emptied the cash register. not knowing if they were still in the restaurant the victims decided to call 9-1-1. by the time the police arrived, the suspects were gone. >> what ind could of person would do that? >> somebody who is desperate i would say. >> tonight chuck-e-cheese's was open with kids and family enjoying themselves. today, i mean, we tried to ignore that it happened, but it is in the back of our heads , but we try to ignore it.

we don't want to show any fears or anything. >> the gunmen were masked and they have few leads. they are hoping someone will come forward with information leading to the suspects. >> my main concern is they robbed somewhere there is children, and the children could have been traumatized. but it was okay. >> no one was physically are jed, but it is hard to measure the psychological impact on these children and what it could do to them in the future. reporting live in newark, alan wang, abc7 news. >> thank you very much. two people are dead after a mini-van slammed into the back of a parked flat bed trailer in san lorenzo. several other people in the van were hurt and taken to lopt hospitals. -- to local hospitals. it happened in an industrial area of san lorenzo. the chp say it is not in the roadway, and it is unclear why the van pushed into it.

and there is a push to address rampant bullying in schools. several teens spoke publicly about their personal experiences. the community meeting just wrapped up at the united methodist church in san jose. that's where lisa amin gulezian is live. lisa? >> carolyn, more than 200 people packed this church to talk about bullying. it is something a lot of people dismiss and simply call a part of teenage life. you are about to hear how bullying can be inpaful and at times deadly. >> the kids put notes in my pe locker telling me i was a whore and telling me to go home. >> they told me i was worthless and not wanted around. >> one by one the students stood up and told their stories. bullying is verbal, physical and on-line. it is a nationwide epidemic where some high schoolers consider suicide an escape

from bullying and she is one of them. >> my daughter, amanda, tried to commit suicide because she was being bullied at school. >> amanda was a student at del mar high school in san jose. one month before her suicide attempt she got 3500 harassing text messages from classmates. this mother wants school districts to take bullying seriously and to take action. >> find out how they are really feeling. talk to students, teachers and the parents and then publish it. >> the nonprofit, pact, or people acting in community together, is demanding the same. they gathered so that district and city leaders could hear the bullying currently going in schools. >> how old were you when you started being bullied? >> i was about 8 when my mom died. >> many say they try to get help from school staffers. >> they don't do anything. >> it is distressing to hear

students say that adults walk by. >> dr. rhonda farber is the super inen it dent in the -- the superintendent where amanda tried to commit suicide. she promises that changing will come. they are giving her and others on the panel five months to prove it. >> and within those five months, the panel promises to survey parents and students about bullying, and they are supposed to measure just how bad it really is. then they are supposed to research ways to stop it, and the final is to implement a game plan. abc7 news. >> a south bay principal is taking heat for keeping an ambulance off a football field after a student suffered a concussion of a the game. guy -- guillardo collided with other players at del mar high school. but they had them pull 75 yards across the field to get to him because she felt the

district banned vehicles on artificial turf. >> what kind of environment have we created where the principal does or does not feel comfortable offriding a rule? >> i don't think she did anything wrong. i work in an emergency room, and i don't think it delayed his care at all. >> the campbell school district issued a statement tonight saying it does have a policy banning vehicles from artificial turf, but it does not include emergency vehicles. a man was shot to death today just moments after leaving a class at oakland eats alan -- oakland's alan temple baptist church. the source received several phone calls during the ged class from a woman who repeatedly asked him to come outside. when he finally did, police say he was shot by a gunman who jumped into a white chrysler 300 driven by a woman. a police officer testified today that one of the teenagers accused of gang raping a 16-year-old girl claimed the victim was drunk

and consented to having sex with them. officers say they captured manual ortega as he ran from the scene on october 24th of last year. a preliminary hearing continued for ortega and six other suckets to determine if there is enough evidence to try them for these crimes. an officer -- one fought with police and even threatened to kill officers after he was arrested. and he will not be released from prison without supervision. he is set to be paroled. he went to prison in 2003 for the death of one of his 13 children, a 19-month-old boy who starved. the state planed a money-saving program that required no supervision. >> we just want to make sure that when people come out of the prison system to our communities, that they are going to be -- the community will be safe.

and that's what we have to watch for. and we have to be more careful knowing this released program is in place. >> the d.a. tells us he understands the state is trying to cut costs, but he says public safety is more important. a prominent bay area attorney filed suit to try to stop the sale of nearly two dozen state-owned buildings. among them the landmark home to the state supreme court and the state office building in san francisco. the sale is meant to help the state out of the budget crisis, but taxpayers would pay hundreds of millions of dollars to rent these buildings back. the south bay attorney who filed the suit says the sale is unconstitutional. house democrats vote tomorrow on whether to name nancy pelosi the minority leader. and there is growing opposition to keep he in the party's leadership position. the house democrats met for the first time since their election day blowout. after the meeting, the congressional black caucus says it might not support her, and two democrats who lost the

election asked pelosi to step down. a packed house in a city council meeting where they urged them to ban leave -- leaf blowers. uh -- orinda allows them from 8:00 in the morning to 6 p.m. on weekday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays. it causes his daughter to run crying in the house. >> my daughters are in the backyard when the assault of the leaf blowers begins. they invariably come running up the back porch and sometimes in tears begging to be let back in the house. >> gardeners worry a blower ban would hurt business. they say work that takes minutes with a blower could take hours with rakes and brooms. the council decided not to change the current rule. a lot more to come. a bay area prosecutor issues a warning to tsa workers. next, what happens if those security checks get too up

the incoming san mateo county district attorney warned airport screeners against the inappropriate touching of passengers at sfo. as more people refuse to go through the body scanning machine, screeners will be conducting more pat downs. incoming d.a. says if it is done with sexual or lewd intent he will prosecute it as sexual battery. >> if it is skin to skin. if somebody took their hand and put it under someone's blouse and go skin to skin, that's a felony. if it is done as a touching over the clothing under california law it is a misdemeanor. >> now, if a person is con havinged it of a felony he or she would automatically be put on the list of sexual presented are toes. there are currently 300 scanners in operation. all three bay area airports have them and another 500 expected to be in place by the end of the year. criticism of the tsa's tighter security is, spaing a pop culture movement. you can find t-shirts on-line referring to the southern california man who told the tsa agent that he would have

that is going to change. sandhya patel is here with the forecast. >> dan, we are fast-forwarding from spring-like weather to winter-like weather over the weekend. let's show you our view from the south beach weather camera. this is how it looked today. sun down at 4:57, and it was absolutely clear. it is still clear tonight as you look at the temperatures. they are falling, and it is getting cold outside, especially in our valleys. napa at 44°. livermore is 49. but look at antioch. they are comfortable at 62 degrees. here are the highlights. a cooling trend continues. the rain begins late friday and look for chilly conditions with showers this coming weekend. we will really see a dramatic change as we head toward the weekend. here is the pacific satellite picture. this ridge of high pressure is slipping southward in response to this cold front that is developing. there is cold air associated with the storm that is developing. it is coming in from the gulf of alaska.

just to put things in perspective, want to show you the current readings from the area that we are talking about. ang reaming is 22 degrees -- anchorage is 22 degrees and fairbankss is 2 degrees below. you can see some of the chilly air will make its way down across the pacific and eventually toward our area. of course it will be modified by the time it arrives, but here is what will happen. a computer animation indicating the cold front arrives first by friday at 5:00. this is an estimation, but we are talking about rain in the bay area during that evening commute or the weekend get away. now, behind the cold front, that cold air filters in and the showers continue and the cold air will result in snow in the sierra nevada. this is limited in moisture for the bay area. the rainfall totals are not terribly impressive. snowfall will be a completely different story. we are looking at the wind basically pushing up the moisture over the sierra nevada and there is significant snow expected. it is going to be a winter

storm this weekend. prepare for interest wither-like driving cop decisions if you are planning to head to tahoe. we could be talking about snow in feet. so snowers and ski boarders, you will enjoy this. low 40s in the coldest inland locations like napa, santa rosa, fairfield, live more down to 43 degrees. most of the bay area in the 40s and 50s. tomorrow afternoon you are looking at low 70s. for cupertino and san jose, on the peninsula, the temperature is coming down a few more degrees. 66 in millbrae and 69 in palo alto. lossal toes, mountain view 70 degrees. today we saw the cooling and tomorrow we will continue to see the cooling. coastal areas, half moon bay 60 degrees. downtown san francisco, mid60s. in the north bay, sunshine for you, a nice day, another mild one. 68 in santa rosa. east bay communities, 66 oakland, hayward, head inland and the temperatures will be in the upper 60s to the low 70s. 70 for concord and around the monterey bay, 67 in the monterey bay. it is a cooler forecast each
